Ben Quail is an artist/printmaker who lives in Waveney, Suffolk.
This exhibition shows the breadth of his work, from printmaking to painting, growing trees from seed and decorated ceramics.
Ben’s printed works are linocuts, screen prints and intaglio, dry point and etching .
The themes are from nature via a visual drawn diary. He has always carried a sketch book
as he finds drawing is an ideal way of recording memory of the observed. These drawings are often translated into print format or abstracted into mixed media. This includes painting on canvas and paper using collage and acrylic paint and pen.
Recently Ben’s interest in ecology has taken him to new dimensions including landscape and tree planting.
Included in the exhibition is a scientific experiment in growing trees from seed in a Wilco’s mini greenhouse. He hopes to grow trees for a new Suffolk forest and hopes his enthusiasm for a love of natural growing landscapes will spread to urban environments.
All work is for sale.
Ben will be running a print workshop on Saturday 9th December from 1.30 – 3pm to make a seasonal greetings card. Suggested donation £5. All welcome but children must please be accompanied by an adult.
